About

Hey, I’m Evan. I do content design, UX writing, content strategy, and copywriting—which means I work on things like words, taxonomies, information architecture, style guides, and user experience research.

I have a background in music, architecture, and design thinking, which I’d like to think grounds and informs my approach to creative work. In general, I want to strengthen the beauty, depth, and humanity of the digital experiences we encounter every day.

My past work includes editorial writing and copywriting in advertising and creative agencies, as well as some freelance copywriting and content strategy. I’m currently a content designer on the user experience team at MillerKnoll.

Behind the scenes, I’m interested in the intersections of process, collaboration, and organizational structure. In other words, how to create well with others.
I’m into clarity and weird-for-weird’s-sake in equal measure, and I like to be as thoughtful as possible—in my work and life.

I’m a strong advocate for the experiences and voices of others, including women, people of color, LGBTQ+ people, and anyone else traditionally repressed or overlooked. I don’t have time for tired, toxic shit.

HAY Site Refresh
Content Strategy / IA / Product Taxonomy / Content Design

Danish brand HAY, part of the MillerKnoll collective, needed an on-brand refresh as part of a re-platforming of their US ecomm site. I performed stakeholder workshops to refine brand voice and tone, create job stories, and develop new content strategies for different page types. I also analyzed the product offer and user-tested different options to arrive at a newly optimized product taxonomy. Throughout, I partnered with the lead product designer on the overall look and feel, content design updates across the site, and some minimal, more on-brand ux copy updates.

Herman Miller Professional
Messaging / Content Design / UX Writing

To provide business shoppers with a more user-friendly ecomm experience, Herman Miller decided to launch Herman Miller Professional in 2020. I worked with product owners, product designers, and business partners to name and create the site. My contributions included a messaging hierarchy, UX copy system, voice/tone guide, ux writing, and writing for registration flow emails and marketing pages.
